What Is a Diagnostic Psychological Assessment?
A diagnostic psychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation used to determine whether your symptoms meet the criteria for one or more mental health conditions. At Calgary Mind and Wellness Clinic, our registered psychologists use clinical interviews, standardized assessment tools, and evidence-based practices to provide an accurate diagnosis.
Whether you’re experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, mood changes, or other mental health concerns, a diagnostic assessment is an important first step toward understanding your symptoms and receiving the right support.
Is This Right for You?
Why You May Benefit from a Diagnostic Assessment
A diagnostic assessment helps uncover what’s contributing to your symptoms, especially when concerns are ongoing, complex, or difficult to explain. Many people seek an assessment after feeling uncertain about their diagnosis or wanting a better understanding of their mental health.

Assessment Overview
Emotional & Psychological Well-Being
We explore emotional responses, personality patterns, previous experiences, and mood regulation to better understand concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional dysregulation.
Understanding the Full Picture
Our diagnostic assessments examine multiple areas of psychological functioning to better understand the factors contributing to your mental health concerns.
Cognitive Functioning
We assess how you process, organize, and respond to information. This may include attention, memory, executive functioning, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
Social & Behavioural Functioning
We evaluate communication, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and relationships to better understand challenges at home, school, work, and in everyday life.
